Alex Song......
1) What is he worth to us?

2) What sweeteners should we throw in a deal to get his sign it ure?

3) What will be the asking price to buy him?

My answers

1) The best player in the team, we will never get the chance to sign a player of his quality in the next 5 years.

2) Promise him the captains armband for the last season at UP and our 1st season at the Olympic stadium. Wages to make him top earner.

3) got to be around £15-£20 mill although i don't know how long he has left of his contract.

Re: Alex Song......
I'd go along with 1 and 3, but given Nolan will be marginal over the remains of his contract, I'd give the captain's armband to Mark Noble, who is the obvious choice.

Miss Turkey and Miss Iceland, judging by the answers on the other thread. Would that work ?

Re: Alex Song......
Play well and finish the season strong enough and we won't have to be doing any selling to the player.

We are a massive club and he should be privileged to play for us.

£10 million

Starts every week, but not the captaincy...Noble deserves that

Re: Alex Song......
Do players care that much about being the captain anymore ?

Re: Alex Song......
I'd be surprised if it's less than 20 million and YES please sign him up right away.

Re: Alex Song......
Obviously noble would and Nolan does but the likes of song in not sure.

£20mil seems steep

Re: Alex Song......
Yeah certain players do, song is commanding and calm. A great influence on our other players........only turned 27 in September.

Best is yet to come.

Re: Alex Song......
Loan him again for another year with a view to a perm and then his value will drop due to the length of his contract

Re: Alex Song......
The trouble is that we won't be the only ones wanting to buy him, hence the high price

Rodfarts 1:37 Tue Dec 16
Re: Alex Song......
Barca won't have any of that surely?

neilalex 1:37 Tue Dec 16
Re: Alex Song......
He's very calm and commanding as you say, but too laid back to be captain. As well as being a very decent footballer Noble has that passion and energy that you need in a good captain. Can't see Song dishing out many bollockings or rallying the troops.

some guy that used ot be captain of us and England would fit that description

Re: Alex Song......
To be fair Neil I've seen Noble go very quiet in many games where he has been captain.

But let's not make this thread about Noble.

Re: Alex Song......
We've missed a trick with the bloke who took the hostages in Sydney.

We should have paid him to instead take Song's family captive, with the promise that no harm would come to them for as long as he was loyal to the club.

As ridiculous as it sounds, it's probably impossible for us to replace him, as any players at his level are either at the monster clubs or will want to join them.

Only one I know that captained us and England is the MIGHTY WORLD CUP WINNING BOBBY MOORE.

Re: Alex Song......
Admirable restraint on your part mate, but the supreme irony of what you just said can't be lost on you?

Anyway, genuinely wouldn't make Song captain. He's far and away our classiest player and I'd want him to concentrate on that. What I would do is find £20million somehow. If all we do next summer is sign him we'll have done well.

Re: Alex Song......
Tell him Sakho and Valencia will play more often than not. At the weekend he was desperately looking for the runs those guys were making at the start of their time together and nobody was making them.
